Suggestion
I feel like we are going to have the opportunity to recreate the American government and build in those things we have always wanted, but were unable to achieve because of partisanship. A government not controlled by corporate interests that offers every American a fair shot at a happy, healthy and productive life.
Idea
I would like to see the Social Security deficit closed by ensuring the wealthy pay the taxes they should be paying. Eliminate the loop holes. Funding Social Security by taxing the rich could involve raising the cap on earnings subject to Social Security taxes, which currently exempts high earners from paying taxes on income above a certain threshold. Also, including more types of income, such as capital gains and dividends, the program could generate additional revenue to help address its long-term financial shortfall.
